About Bush's Economic Policy . . .
Let me start off by saying something in response to a name used in the comments of the previous blog post. "Jim Carrey Kiss my ASS" is not the kind of thing I appreciate in my blog. Yes, it's true, he's had a long list of really bad movies - Me, Myself, and Irene, The Majestic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Mask, Liar Liar, and especially Bruce Almighty. But Jim Carrey has been in some bona fide top-notch movies as well. Most everyone seems to like Dumb and Dumber and regard it as probably Carrey's best, Ace Ventura and its sequel were both good, though I liked Ace Ventura 2 much more, and, personally, I liked The Cable Guy, but apparently I found that there're some people who don't like the Cable Guy so much, these people obviously have chlamydia, an STD, probably contracted from a koala. Carrey proved he was at least somewhat competent at pulling off dramatic roles in The Truman Show and Man on the Moon, which were both pretty solid flicks. The Majestic was of course a heaping pile of shit, but there's a pretty stellar performance by Bruce Campbell somewhere in the middle of the movie that's easily worth the time spent watching the rest of the refuse - Campbell plays some sort of sword-wielding pirate that has to save a blond Scandinavian chick from an unhinged magician. And let's not forget Jim Carrey's best role to date! I am of course referring to his role as The Riddler in Batman Forever starring Chris O'Donnell and Cold Mountain's Nicole Kidman.

*side note*
Cold Mountain was a very bad movie, but let me tell you, it was chock-full of some truly awesome cameos. Making appearances were the delightful Philip Seymour Hoffman (that fat guy from Boogie Nights), Donnie Darko's Jena Malone who captains a boat, Ethan Suplee plays a mentally challenged gorilla, the Brendan Gleeson plays an axe-wielding Scotsman (his lopping off heads with his giant battle axe scenes had to be cut out of the final product to make room for Renée Zellweger's ass), Natalie Portman as Queen Amidala, Jack White from the White Stripes (he sings some songs), and Saving Private Ryan's Giovanni Ribisi reprising his role as medic.
*end side note*

Most recently, Jim Carrey stars in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. The movie's written by Charlie Kaufman, one of the business' best and most original screenwriters. If you saw and enjoyed Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, or Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, you're sure to like Eternal Sunshine. Michel Gondry's direction and visual style puts the whole thing together very nicely as well. The performances are all great, and Jim Carrey does, in my opinion, his greatest work yet - aside from his part as The Riddler, of course. I highly recommend seeing Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. Don't go see it for Jim Carrey, go see it because it's an original and enjoyable movie, it's not the same shit that's constantly eaten up by movie-goers, like Signs or the Disneyland ride themed movies, except The Country Bears starring the living legend Christopher Walken as Reed Thimple and Kevin M. Richardson as one of the bears. Everyone should remember Mr. Richardson from his glorious break-out role as Goro from the first Mortal Kombat movie, he's done many many voices for video games and movies alike ever since. I want to dedicate this post to Mr. Kevin M. Richardson.

Movies for Spring Break
Spring Break is upon us and, if you're like me, you're probably doin' squat. For those of you who may not have plans for your entire break, allow me to help by providing a list of fabulous movies that you can go out and rent from your local video rental place.

1. American Psycho: Christian Bale in his best role - a brilliant book adaptation and superb script - very funny
2. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: My favorite Johnny Depp role and a hilarious script
3. Once Upon a Time in Mexico: Again, Johnny Depp steals the show in this awesome Rodriguez homage to westerns
4. Bruce Campbell vs Army of Darkness: Maddox says it best - http://maddox.xmission.com/aod.html
5. Donnie Darko: Jake Gyllenhaal is prodigious in this movie, definitely one to watch
6. Equilibrium: Christian Bale going around pistol-whipping everyone - need I say more?
7. Natural Born Killers: Hmm, watch at your own risk- I really liked the opening sequence in the cafe
8. Igby Goes Down: Claire Danes is delightful, Kieran Culkin does his best Holden Caulfield, and Jeff Goldblum is golden
9. The Big Lebowski: Jeff Bridges being totally awesome and Steve Buscemi in another great role
10. The Good Girl: Jennifer Aniston does well and Jake Gyllenhaal, of Donnie Darko fame, is fantastic
11. The Believer: Ryan Gosling has a new movie coming out April 2nd that could be really good
12. Wonderland: Val Kilmer as porn legend John Holmes and Josh Lucas being awesome
13. 13 Conversations About One Thing: This landing on 13 is purely coincidental
14. And, of course, Masked and Anonymous: The greatest movie in existence right now, at this moment, as you are reading this

Don't worry, I've seen all of these movies, some of them many times, some of them only once, and some of them only once but would love to watch over and over again for the rest of my life until I die (Masked and Anonymous). I thoroughly enjoyed all of them, some of them more than others, some of them a lot more than others (Masked and Anonymous), but I can't guarantee everyone will like them. So, if you'd like to augment your cinematic lexicon, give these flicks a shot- better these than dogshit deficiencies like Finding Nemo or Signs or Kate and Leopold.

Just a quick update . . .
Some have asked about my new buddy icon and quote in my profile. The icon is actually that of Val Kilmer from the wonderful movie Masked and Anonymous, a movie that doesn't need plot or acting when it has a script as good as the lyrics in any Bob Dylan song. Bob Dylan was, as usual, fantastic, but Val Kilmer truly stole the show with his little cameo. I don't understand what he's saying - What's he talking about? I don't know, but I bet it's very deep and insightful, just like a Bob Dylan song. This is what goes through the mind during the entire movie. I highly recommend it.

I threw in a couple more links per request (thanks Brendan *wink*) that everyone should check out. The Soul Plane website is . . . the world, believe me - a movie not to be missed, it might even be better than Masked and Anonymous. Yes, you read correctly, the Masked and Anonymous.

Just a blog. . . for now
It seems everything's been worked out to begin this here blog. There's a place to leave comments beneath each blog post, comments are always fun, I put that there for you guys - the readers. It's like my very own blog forum. Just click on the thing that says comments, and leave any comments you want - comments or questions, both work. I'll try and answer any questions anyone has. That's why it's there - in my blog. I have some pretty good links on the right. I visit those often, and now anyone can link to them directly from my blog. CNN.com keeps me up to date on all the news in the world. I like to know what's going on in politics, you know, maybe what's happening in the economy, the stock market is part of that. I'm an artist, so there's a couple art sites. I like movies, so there's some movie sites. Everyone likes imdb, it's the internet database of movies, and there are many . . . movies. You'll notice that I don't have such a great title for my blog. I'm not sure if I'm going to keep it that way, I couldn't really think of anything else that would fit my blog.

Well- I believe that'll just about do it for my first blog post. I think it went pretty well for all of us. I hope to update my blog perhaps 2-3 times per week, that sounds pretty good. I might talk about movies or somethin and, to those reading my blog, I have some good ones I can recommend . . . some good movies, I mean. Anywho, feel free to leave your very own comments on my blog to this blog post and feel free to browse the site - er, blog.
